Holi cherry blossoms!

Saturday, March 30th, 2013 – Sunday, March 31st, 2013

First thing in the morning, we made another trip to Costco.  I thought I only needed a couple of things but ended up spending more money then I have there before.  That included spending $10 on avocados, which are hard to find here.  Hopefully now I won’t need to go to Costco again for a couple of months!

The rest of the afternoon, I spend walking around the Gwangalli beach area and appreciating the beautiful Cherry Blossom trees, which are only in bloom for a short couple of weeks.

That night, a fellow Canadian friend who is leaving Korea in April had a little get together so we could participate in her shaving her head.  She has shaved her head before and chose to do it again before voyaging to India!

She was nice enough to let us all give it a try!

On Sunday, I went to Haeundae Beach for the Indian Holi Festival!  A huge group of people gathered and we all had a packet of coloured power and threw it all over each other in celebration of the new season.  Included in the registration for this event was an Indian snack, a drink, a little hat and the powered paint.  Mostly foreigners participated in the event but there were of course people who were a part of the Hindu religion.  They had music playing and there were so many people throwing paint everywhere and splashing it all over your face, it was such a fun experience!

That afternoon, I went to a really cool café/bar called fully booked.  It is co-owned by two foreigners, one of them being Canadian and it is newly renovated and has a really fun atmosphere.  People can sell or buy used books, the place has board games that people can play at their table while sipping their coffee or wine. One of the regular’s sat down with me and a girl named Jenny from Ireland and played Settler’s of Catan with us.  He was from Toronto and has been in Korea for 18 years!  After, the rest of our friends joined us and we played another couple of rounds of Catan.  Kristin and Steven, you can rest assured that your Catan training paid off for me!
